While most of us have spent the last few months with our eyes on a presidential election, astronomers have been looking much further out than the planet earth.

According to the Los Angeles Time, “new planets swim into our ken”.  The discovery of these planets is a reminder that there really is a “bigger scheme of things”.  We are living in exciting times on all fronts, and it makes me realize even more so than ever just how very important it is to keep our students abreast in global learning.

Check out these sites and share them with your students:

The European Homepage for NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope

The ESA/ESO Astronomy Exercise Series

Even though these sites are directly related to science, think cross curriculum.  This topic can be easily tied into English, math, social studies, and the arts. Don’t forget to reach for the stars in all we do in the classroom!
